IOS Prompt Based Writing App

This project was a solo project for my UI design course where I designed an IOS based writing prompt app. I completed the project in Winter of 2021 over the course of one week.

Problem Space

The Problem

Writers often struggle with writer’s block or are constantly seeking inspiration to get their process going. They have issues with finding promtps that stir their imagination and the motivation to keep going. How might we ease writer’s writers block and provide users with the incentive to keep writing?

The Solution

We can provide writers with writing prompts to inspire them and help them combat writer’s block and provide them with the incentive of growing their own garden to stay motivated and to keep writing. Writers gain seeds after completing prompts and can use these prompts to grow their own personal garden.

Changes and improvements for the future:

This project is a unique one that I have not specifically seen on the market. It incentivizes creative writing by allowing users to gather seeds the more they respond to other prompts. I enjoyed the iteration and design process even more because it was a unique idea.
In future I want to conduct usability tests and riff off of users' suggestions in order to have a design that is more representative of user input. However, due to time constraints the design is largely informed by my perspective alone. However, as someone who enjoys creative writing, I'd like to think my input is valid here!
If I were to iterate on this further, I'd want to personalize the app more for users. For example, allow users to name plants, view other users' gardens, and have the option of a dark mode. Though for now I am happy with the initial concept of this idea.
